The wrestling team headed to the Ball Arena in Denver, February 15th-17th. The team sent eight boys and four girls to the state tournament. 

At the end of the tournament, Gunnison brought back four boy state placers and two girls. Both Romie and Roxie Uhrig took 4th in the girls 145 and 135 pound weight class. Cody Casebolt took 5th in the 120 pound weight class. Gunnison had three boys in the state finals, with Damyon Funk taking 2nd in the 113 pound weight class and Miles Harris and Royce Uhrig both taking 1st place in the 144 and 150 pound weight class. The boys team took 6th place out of 49 teams  while the girls team took 19th place out of a 66 team field. 

When asked about the state experience, Kleber Flores, a two time state qualifier said, “it was a really fun and great experience. I enjoyed spending time with my team on and off the mat.” This season was an amazing season and they are all looking forward to another successful season next year.
