Skye Wells is a returning wrestling coach for the Gunnison High School wrestling team this season. Wells attended Gunnison High School and also wrestled for GHS. Skye moved to Gunnison his sophomore year and was in the class of 2006. Skye was a two time state placer in wrestling. He took 3rd in 2005 and 1st in 2006 for the GHS, both being in the 152 weight class.
After high school, Wells attended Western Colorado University for wrestling and eventually pursued law enforcement. Wells is currently an investigator for the Gunnison police department.
This is Wells second year of coaching for Gunnison. Last season, the head coach, Dave Uhrig asked Wells if he would like to coach and he accepted the offer. “Wrestling has given me so much and coaching is a form of giving back to the sport.”
