Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad, or Science O for short, is a school based club. This club is run by Maria Kattnig, one of the science teachers at Gunnison High School. Kattnig has been coaching the Science Olympiad for 27 years. Science O begins in November and continues through the end of March.

Examples of activities that Science O does area code breaking, air trajectory experiments,

and building scrambler cars.

Julian Ryter, a senior at GHS who has been doing science O since 6th grade said, “Science Olympiad is a really fun club at our school and it’s a fun form of learning science. It helps me learn and love science more than what we were taught in the classroom.”

Later in the year science O will start competing against other schools that compete in Science O in the state.
