On October 30th a Student Leadership Council planned Vitalant Blood Drive will be held at Gunnison High School from 10:00 to 2:00. Donors must be 16 or older, a student at GHS, and healthy to participate and donate blood. Teachers also have the choice to participate with students by donating their own blood. The actual drive will be outside of the school in the roundabout and will happen in the privacy of a Vitalant bus. Vitalant is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies organizations based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Vitalant has been providing a safe blood supply across 30 different states since 1943.

SLC teacher Lacie Wise said, “ So far we already have 17 people signed up, which already beats last year’s record of how many people participated.”

This is the second year that SLC has planned and promoted the blood drive at GHS to donate blood, students can find posters around the school with more information and the link to make an appointment before they are all taken.
