Gunnison High School is now offering a new course on Wilderness First Response, or WFR. WFR is a program designed to teach people how to give basic medical care in the wilderness or if medical care is not available. Taking WFR through the school is completely free rather than the $450-$2,400 tuition through other courses available to the public. WFR also counts as a school elective credit being a semester long with 30 hours online and 50 hours in person. Deakun Summer, Rylee Berry, and Dakota Redden are the first students to take the course. If you are interested in taking the course you can talk to Austin Gibney the Pathways School Counselor.  Austin Gibney says, “I hope to expand the program.” Rylee Berry said , “I take the course because it is useful to know the skills involved.” With the introduction of this course, GHS is hoping to further expand the program.
