Gunnison High School varsity golf dominated competition on September 7th at Black Canyon Golf Course, Montrose. Overall, GHS golf scored first as a team in the tournament beating the top teams like the Delta Panthers, the Durango Demons, and the Grand Junction Tigers. Preston Pike, a Crested Butte Secondary School Junior, placed first. In close second was Carson Zummach, a GHS Junior.
The tournament hosted 100 players from 16 different teams who all competed for first. The rest of the golf team from GHS did well. Payden Davis placed 6th, Mason Weitman placed 26th, and Joseph Noble placed in 65th.
Coming up, finals for JV are in Grand Junction, at Chipeta Golf Course on 9/15.
