Class of 2023 Graduates
May 22, 2023
We are getting closer to the end of the school year and once again we are sadly losing some of the four year students from Gunnison High School. The class of 2023 have done so many amazing things in the high school and contributed to the school and shown their school spirit in so many ways.
This year’s class was a small class with about 90 graduates. This year there were two valedictorians Zoe Hannah and Amaylee Loken. There was also a salutatorian Michael Riser. Along with the class president Mikayla O’ Connell. They all gave amazing and inspiring speeches. Zoe’s speech was really inspiring and gave really good points and told a story. Amaylee talked about perseverance. Micheal gave an encouraging speech and also had the great idea of putting motivational quotes under all of his classmates’ chairs. And finally Mikayla had an inspirational speech.
The Band teacher Mr. Koepsel had a really big band this year performing at the graduation ceremony. When senior Jaime Perez closed off the year with an amazing solo along with Nicholas Ferraro also a senior in the percussion section. But the band wasn’t the only performers at this graduation. The choir also had an amazing performance and three seniors Blue Noble, Sam Cochrain, and Angel Hennigh also closed off the year with a beautiful song.
Lastly at the beginning of the ceremony they announced a winner of an award and one of our own teachers Mrs. Susan Powers won the Dan Treadway excellence in teaching award. Overall this was an amazing year and we can’t wait to see what next year brings us.
