Medical Pathways Program Comes to an End
April 20, 2023
Over the past few months students from Gunnison High School and high schoolers from Crested Butte Community School have attended a program that offers small classes on numerous parts of the medical field.
Throughout the 9 week long class (February 15 – April 12) students learned various things that include radiology, physical therapy, supply chain, surgery, and numerous others. Nearly every department in the hospital helped out to give students an enjoyable hands-on, job-like experience.
The class ended with a graduation that was catered by local restaurant 5B’s. Students were rewarded with a goodie bag that included a GVH (Gunnison Valley Hospital) mug and a utility tool as well as a certificate of completion. Bobbie Hamblin and Joelle Ashley plan to continue this for future students and hope they enjoy it as much as this year. They reached out to students recently to get feedback so that they can make the class more valuable and enjoyable for future groups.
