The GHS band spent many weeks preparing for its annual holiday band concert, which was held on Tuesday, December 14. The GHS band is made up of many talented members who like playing music together. Band is a small group of musicians who play popular music such as jazz, rock, or pop. The concert at GHS went really well!  The high school band was joined by the middle school of the 7th and the 8th graders. The songs they played were “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, “Silent Night” and many others. 

Earlier this year the band traveled to Grand Junction for their annual regional marching competition. The GHS band class placed 3rd in regional, which almost qualified them for the state competition. 

The band’s goals for next year are to try to beat Grand Junction and get first place in regionals. When Asked about what they are most excited about for next year, some of the Band class members said “to go and beat Grand Junction high school and get closer as a team”. It will be a tough one to beat Grand Junction high school because Grand Junction is a larger school with many talented band players.  The band also wants to learn new things and teach new things to other class members who sign up for the band. They also said they want to just have fun with the team members.Between the concert and the competition, the band has had a great start to their year.  They are looking forward to the spring semester and the chance to hold other performances.
