Science Olympiad, also known as Science O, is an academic team that focuses on advances in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM). Gunnison High School (GHS) has supported a team for many years and is in the top ranks within the state based on school size. 

Science O is composed of twenty three events with two to three participants who compete in each event. Participants are tasked with either building and testing models or taking a test on specific STEAM categories or conducting experiments. 

“Science O is a fun team and it teaches great teamwork skills and involves creative thinking. It is also a great stepping stone for those seeking a career in science,” stated Udev Vijay, a Science O participant. 

GHS Science O is nationally recognized based on their bowling uniforms and their thank you cards. This year GHS is hoping to move on to nationals and maintain their high ranking in the state, with their future competition on February, 18 at CSU Pueblo. Exercising
